Keeping Software Secure and Up to Date
——-
Regardless of what software package you use to maintain your website, it is essential that you keep the software up to date.If you are using WordPress to build and maintain your website, it is essential to keep both the software itself and any plugins up to date. The core software can update automatically depending on your current version, but plugins are not automatically updated and need to be checked regularly. Themes should be kept up to date as well, except if your active theme has been customized. Any plugins or themes that aren’t in active use should be removed from your account in order to minimize the chance for compromise. In order to keep your site and the server secure, we will be updating any WordPress installations that need it in the coming weeks.
If you are using the ShopSite ecommerce software for your site, keeping it up to date will ensure that you have all of the latest features, and it will make sure you are running a PCI compliant version, as required by your merchant account provider. As mentioned last month, version 12 SP2 is now available. A maintenance release (12 SP2 r1) for this version, which implemented some bug fixes, was recently released and applied to all 12 SP2 stores. Complete details about the latest version can be found on our site at:

If you are running Magento for your website, the latest version is 1.9.2.2. The version you are currently running would dictate how easy or hard it may be for you to upgrade to this latest release. Regardless of version, it is extremely important to keep your store patched with all Magento security patches. As part of our managed services, we apply Magento security patches automatically after being tested. However, the latest patch (SUPEE-6788) is not always a seamless one and we have been applying it on a case by case basis. Reference:
